Blanco Texas Sunday Morning Ride – 08/23/2009

It’s the fourth Sunday of the month & We’re goin’ to Blanco Texas… This will be a great ride to prep for the BIKE MS in October!!!!000_1432

This is one of our favorite rides during Spring & Summer – here we go!!

We would like to invite the fast beginners to join us on this ride this Sunday. We will have a 14 mile & a slow 21 mile ride just for you!! Please let me know if you’ll be interested.

000_1419We’ll meet at the Starbuck’s at 1604/281. (This is the new one, outside 1604, near Lifetime Fitness, behind SACU. Not the one next to HEB)

If you want coffee, try & get there by 6:15AM.  We will drive out at 6:30AM sharp to the Blanco Courthouse on 281. We’ll get there around 7AM and have wheels down at 7:30AM.

Meet: 7am (in blanco) Wheels down: 7:30am

000_1420We have several pace levels & distances:
Fast Beginner 14 mile route – will do a steady pace of 11-12mph with a distance of 14 miles, with rests.

Scenic Intermediate 21 mile route – will do a comfortable intermediate pace, 12-13mph (good for fast beginners that can do the distance – 21 miles.

Fast Intermediate 21 mile route – will do a 14-15mph pace, fast intermediate, but only 21 miles.

000_1425Fast Intermediate 34 mile route – will do a fast pace 13-15mph, with a 34 mile distance.

Scenic Intermediate 46 mile route – will do a comfortable pace of 12-13mph with 10 mile rests, 46 mile distance.

Fast Intermediate 46 mile route  – will do a fast pace of 14-15mph with 10 mile rests, 46 miles.

Advanced Intermediate 50+ route – will do an advanced pace, 16+mph, distance 50+ parking

Park at Old Blanco County Courthouse – Main Street between 3rd and 4th Streets.

On that side of 281, we ride down 4th street to Mesquite St. Left on Mesquite. That takes us past Blanco State Park. We ride County Rd 102 and take a left on Blanco-Kendelia Rd (Little Blanco River). We ride that around to 281 and then turn around and ride back to the courthouse.



If you are a fast beginner and would like to ride an easy 14 miles or easy 21 miles, please call me as soon as possible (383-3660, option 4) so we know to expect you.



After the ride we are headed to the outstanding bbq restaurant that has blackberry cobbler with ice cream.

We will have ride maps and cue sheets available at the ride. In case of bad weather that causes a cancellation, we will post an update on twitter, facebook & in the000_1429 Emergency Info section on our forum., feel free to call Guy Karen Blancoor Veronica the morning of the ride if you are unsure of a cancellation or need directions to the start. (We’re used to riders calling us really early on ride days.)

    Thank you for a great ride!!! The weather was great and the scenery was beautiful. I was contemplating THE HILL???? But I decided to do it anyways. I’m glad I did. It was tough though! Its always nice riding with you gals and guys! See you soon!~Jamie

      Ah, Jamie, that is cool that you did THE HILL. I told you, it’s hard, but doable!!

      Blanco sure is beautiful, glad you enjoyed it. We’ll see you next time!
